NTNU Smart Sustainable Cities

NTNU Smart Sustainable Cities is a cross-disciplinary competence cluster in which we develop transformative research methods in the interface between technology, design and people, to support cities, citizens and society change practices towards a sustainable low-carbon future.

Our ambition is to create projects that show the potential of smart cities and societies when architects, planners, designers and artists take a central role in their creation, in close cooperation with other core disciplines such as engineering, ICT, social and economic sciences. From end of 2018, NTNU is also leading - a Smart City Lighthouse project, currently in Grant Preparation, with Trondheim and Limerick as leading cities.

The interdisciplinary Smart Sustainable Cities group work in close collaboration with NTNU Sustainability and NTNU Energy. The group is also playing a leading role in several Norwegian, EU and international projects; including China.
